PFPNET Technical Meeting 2016

PFPNet was launched in September via a one-day technical meeting, which was held at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.  The meeting provided the opportunity for industry representatives to agree the aims for the organisation and collectively define and agree the forward agenda and deliverables for PFPNet.

Attended by over 70 delegates, the event attracted passive fire protection system manufacturers, facility owners and operators, testing companies, scientists, fabricators and installers, designers and consultants.

Specifically structured to reflect the PFP supply chain, the day consisted of four work streams running in parallel; design and specification; material testing and certification; application and installation; and inspection, maintenance and repair.  Delegates were randomly split into groups and then split again for every session so as to ensure a real mix of industry expertise for each and every workshop.  This ensured that every potential issue under each segment heading had the opportunity to be raised and discussed.

The findings from September’s meeting have enabled us to put together a proposal, which outlines what PFPNet is and what it isn’t; PFPNet’s overall aims; how PFPNet will be administered; the base scope of work for 2017; what to expect as a member; membership fees; and the overarching terms and conditions.

The feedback we have received from those that attended the meeting has been extremely positive, and overwhelmingly endorsed the need for this group amongst those whose activities are based around, or have use for, hydrocarbon PFP.  If you would like to receive PFPNet’s proposal for 2017, please click here.
